"The right place and the right way to say goodbye."One of the lessons we learned from the COVID-19 pandemic: families do not always have the opportunity to personally say goodbye. For those families who prefer cremation, an opportunity to have some private time with their loved one in non-sterile, comfortable surroundings, without the harsh realities that come along with death, we present the Goodbye Room.
Rader Funeral Home feels strongly enough about the opportunity to say goodbye in a personal way, that we are offering this service to each family we serve. This room is on-site and has a private entrance which allows families to spend time with their loved ones uninterrupted. For more information, please give us a call.
Rader Funeral Home has recently partnered with International Christian Centers for the Deaf(ICCD) to help raise awareness to this initiative. To date, ICCD has helped thousands of Deaf children in developing countries around the globe, but thousands more still need our help. We’re asking generous donors like you to help us by donating funds that will provide these children with meals, language skills, a safe environment, and hope for the future.
This past summer we hosted an event at the funeralhome “One Stop Summer Shop Fundraiser” which raised $500 for the ICCD. Click here to help fund ICCD.
More than 120 years of history, love and devotion to families' needs.
Rader Funeral Home was established more than 120 years ago and is the oldest funeral home business in Botetourt County.
The changes that have overwhelmed the Botetourt area have indeed changed the funeral home itself. Rader was established in 1898 in the small town of Troutville, Virginia, where Mr. Rader (Ryder) opened his doors as a funeral home even though the building was actually a small shed where he also conducted a carpentry business. There, Mr. Rader built coffins and other cabinetry, a skill often carried into funeral homes in the early days.
You are welcome to call us any time of the day, any day of the week, for immediate assistance. Or, visit our funeral home in person at your convenience.
