Wayne Harrison

Wayne Dorsey Harrison, 84, of Roanoke, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Saturday April 13, 2024.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe and Goldie Harrison; Wayne is survived by his brother Tommy Harrison; sister Joyce Smith (Ronnie); nieces and nephews, Jerry Chattin (Amy) and Jimmy Chattin (Stacy); Dale Smith; Francenia Richmond (Jack); Dena Chocklett; David Harrison and Timmy Harrison.

Wayne spent his working years at Goodyear as Assistant Manager. At Goodyear, he enjoyed many wonderful friendships with his co-workers and customers. All those who came across Wayne know what a unique sense of humor he had and you could always count on having a good laugh with him. Wayne was an obsessive Virginia Tech sports fan. He would tune in to the Hokie sports talk radio shows and always got the “scuttlebutt” and would watch replays of Tech’s greatest football games. His devotion was not limited to football—he followed mens and womens basketball, softball and baseball. Wayne was a passionate golfer and golf fan. You could find him checking out the Masters every spring.

Wayne, “Dude”, “Uncle Buck” as he was affectionately known will be greatly missed by his family, friends and neighbors. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
