Virginia M Richardson

Virginia “Ginny” Midgett Richardson of Sneads Ferry passed from this life on Sunday September 12, 2021. 
Our Lord welcomed Ginny to a far better place with no worry, pain or sorrow.
Ginny was the only daughter of Lester and Nora Atwood Midgett and was born on August 11, 1923 on the banks of the New River in Sneads Ferry.
Ginny was preceded in death by her four brothers; Dennis, Billy, Louis and Clifton Midgett as well as her parents and beloved husband Ray.
She is survived by her niece Sherry Cowperthwaite (Daniel), niece Barbara Brown (John), nephew Freddie Midgett (Mary) & nephew Michael Midgett (Loretta). Ginny is also survived by 8 great nieces & nephews and 9 great great nieces and nephews. 

Ginny was an avid reader, writer and photographer. She wrote many songs and thousands of poems through the years. Several of her songs were recorded by Country Music artists Faron Young and Jean Shepard.  During her retirement years she wrote verses for the greeting card company Leanin’ Tree, providing her with a substantial supplemental income.

Ginny loved The River and the bounty that came from it, especially oysters and shrimp. She loved oyster roasts with cold Pepsi and crunchy cornbread.

In 1979, Ginny married Ray Richardson and moved to Cloverdale Virginia where they lived until his death in 2010. She then moved back to Sneads Ferry to be with her family.

Ginny lived a full and wonderful life. She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be missed by all. 

There will be a celebration of life gathering at 2 o’clock on Sunday, September 19 at Davis Seafood, 155 Davis Lane, Sneads Ferry NC. 

A Celebration of Ginny's life will be 2:00 PM Monday September 20, 2021 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road, Daleville Virginia 24083 with Pastor Mike Hogan officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 2:00 PM.
