Tribute

Virginia Adams passed away December 21, 2020. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother to her entire family. She modeled for all of us true Christian values and shared prayers for us each night.

Virginia was born in Roanoke county August 17, 1927. She was preceded in death by her parents Lena and Harry East, sister Vivian East, brother Elmer “Bubba” East, and husband Eugene E. Adams. She is survived by her sisters Betty Ann Thacker and Katherine Carpenter; daughters, Carolyn Adams Quinn (Terry) and Nancy Adams Necessary (Larry); her son Ronald Eugene Adams (Patrice). She is also survived by many grandchildren who loved her dearly: My Linh Jubb (Tom), Martha Quinn, Elizabeth Necessary Harr (Marty), Alison Sale (Brian), Sarah Chandler (Marc), Erin Johnson (Jeremy), and Peyton Adams; her great-grandchildren: Haley Epperly (Brady), Grace Sale, Madelyn Sale, Jacob Chandler, Lena Chandler, Bree Sale, Martin Harr, Alexius Harr; and great-great-child Layton Epperly.

Virginia and Gene were married for more than 66 years. She was a wise woman who devoted her early years to caring for her mother-in-law and rearing her children. She served various churches in many roles, and supported her husband Gene in his many business endeavors. She was a great cook, and hosted many family gatherings. She encouraged her family to read scriptures, pray daily, pursue education, and enjoy nature. Virginia loved to hike, care for her lambs on the farm, and cultivate her vegetable and floral gardens. She spent time at Snyder Nursing Home prior to her death and brought a Bible devotion to the staff. Her family remains grateful to the care teams at Snyder’s, Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, and the private care providers: Cordney, Jackie, and Megan for their care of our mother.

A private graveside service was Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem.
