Tonya Renee Gibson

Tonya Renee Gibson, age 47 of Troutville, passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Tonya was born in Roanoke and lived in Botetourt all of her life. She was daughter of the late Alma Cecil Gibson and Gloria Defibaugh Gibson who survives. Tonya was a homemaker and enjoyed the outdoors as well as working on cars, fishing, hunting, and kayaking.

She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Todd Palmer; step-son, Wesley Palmer of Bedford; daughters: Shannon Abernathy (Taylor Perry) of Eagle Rock, and Melanie Abernathy (Donald Bruce) of Covington; her mother, Gloria Gibson; sister, Veronica (David Matthew) Mills of Fincastle; niece and nephew: Lori Ellen (Jacob) Grubb of Fincastle, and Jonathan David Mills of Fincastle; and grand-nephew, Asher Gunner Grubb.

A celebration of Tonya’s life will be 7:00 pm Friday, October 1 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road Daleville with Pastor Peggy Brown officiating. Private burial will be at Pleasant Dale Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 5-7 pm Friday.
