Jolene Shorter Lafon

Jolene “Jo” Shorter Lafon, 72, of Roanoke County, died Sunday, March 25, 2018 following a long illness.

Jo was born in Roanoke and lived in the area all of her life. She was the daughter of the late Clarence Woodrow and Bessie Olena Manspile Shorter. Jo was a graduate of William Byrd High School and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was a professional hair dresser and enjoyed crafting. Jo was happily devoted to her husband of 47 years, the late James Robert “Bobby” Lafon.

She is survived by brothers and sisters-in-law Michael and Nancy Shorter of Roanoke, Carlyle Dennis and Shelene Shorter of Lynchburg; sisters, Nona Byrd and Lisa Hilton both of Roanoke; twelve nieces and nephews.

Private services will be conducted at the convenience of the family.
