Margaret Reed Hatcher

Margaret Reed Hatcher, 86 of Troutville, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018.

She was born November 28, 1931 to the late Prince and Elizabeth Reed. She was also preceded in death by her husband Garland and son Ron. Survivors include sons Jim and wife Brenda, and Jerry and wife Luanne; sisters Shirley Witt, Rachel Ayers, Jean Shell, Juanita St. Clair, and Mary Jo (Jerry) Myers; brother Bill (Lois) Reed; beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought much joy to her life.

Margaret faithfully served her Lord and Savior throughout her life as a member of Troutville-New Bethel Church of the Brethren. She served the Troutville community as a friend, counselor, and confidante during her 50 year career with Thriftway Market where she worked until suffering a stroke at age 84.

Margaret leaves behind extended family and many dear friends to cherish her memory and continue her legacy of serving others.

A celebration of Margaret’s life will be 11:00 am, Saturday April 21 at Troutville Church of the Brethren, 5133 Lee Highway, Troutville with Pastor Terry Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Mill Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, 4-7 pm at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road, Daleville.
