Luther R. “Tum” Minnix, age 62 of Troutville, died Monday, November 26, 2018.
Luther was born January 7, 1956 in Roanoke and lived in Botetourt all of his life. He was the son of the late Ray C. and Doretha “Dee” Crowder Minnix.
Luther was a Master Technician for Excel Truck Group for more than 40 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and took great pride in his yard. Luther enjoyed fixing things for other people and was a proud Mustang owner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law Dottie Henry and is survived by his wife of 15 years, Lee Henry Minnix; daughters and sons-in-law Molly and Will Sandel of Richmond, Hannah and Eric Whiting of Troutville; step-son and daughter-in-law Colin and Emily Walthall of Richmond; brother and sister-in-law Richard and Lee Minnix of Cloverdale; sisters and brother-in-law Regina and Chip Spangler and Nina Sue Minnix Bleau all of Fincastle; many loving nieces, nephews, friends; and his dog Max.
A Celebration of Luther’s life will be 12:oo noon, Saturday December 1st at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road Daleville with Pastor Terry Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday 5-8pm and one hour prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 am Saturday.
