Jack Lewis Martin, age 95 of Daleville, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord Wednesday, May 17, 2023.
Jack was born in Roanoke September 21, 1927 and was raised in Boones Mill. He was the son of the late Leonard S. and Ellen Hartman Martin. Jack lived in Botetourt most of his life.
He served in The United States Navy aboard the USS Chemung at the end of World War II and was a machinist for Lone Star Cement Corporation retiring after 43 years of service. Jack was a long-time member of Shenandoah Baptist Church, enjoyed tinkering, and could build anything. He built go-carts for his children and even made a boat out of two car hoods that his family would use to go fishing. Jack enjoyed working in the yard and playing the harmonica.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Juanita Craig Martin; brother, Herbert W. Martin; and a sister, Frances Overfelt. Jack is survived by his sons: Steven (Claudette) Martin of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, and Timothy (Bridget) Martin of Roanoke; daughter, Ivy Lupacchino of Daleville; ten grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Leonard Martin of Boones Mill.
A celebration of Jack’s life will be 2:00pm Saturday, May 20 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road Daleville with Rev. Dr. Joann C. Menefee officiating. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, two hours prior to the service.
