Dorothy L. "Dot" Cary

Dorothy L. “Dot” Cary, age 85 of Fincastle, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.    

Dot was born in Fincastle on October 10, 1933 and was the daughter of the late Emily and Jordan Cary. She lived all her life in Fincastle. Dot worked for Kenrose in Buchanan as a service lady, she eventually retired from Friendship Manor where she worked in housekeeping for more than 20 years, and after her retirement she became a caregiver to several local people. Dot enjoyed working puzzles, word searches, and watching game shows.

She is preceded in death by her sisters: Jane Armstrong and Stella Kidd; Brother: Jordan P “Bud” Cary, Nephews: Lester Eubank Jr. and Earl Lewis Eubank.

Dot is survived by her sisters: Gladys Eubank and Myrtle Deane Cary; Niece: Emily Gale Eubank; and two Great nieces: Karlee and Brenna.

A celebration of Dot’s life will be 2:00 pm Sunday, May 5 at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church (White Church), 2357 Mt. Pleasant Church Road, Fincastle. The family will receive friends Saturday May 4, from 5 – 7 pm at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road Daleville.
