Dennis Lee Garten

Dennis Lee Garten, age 89, of Daleville passed away peacefully Wednesday March 13, 2024 at his home. He was born May 23, 1934 in Meadow Creek West Virginia (Summers County).

Denny served his country for 26 years of dedicated service, retiring as a Senior Master Sergent in the US Airforce – throughout his career in the US Airforce he was stationed in Vietnam, Germany, Korea, along with various other bases. He was a family man and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, but when he wasn’t with his family he was serving as a deacon of his beloved church, Daleville Baptist Church.

Denny is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sue Allen Garten; sons and daughters - in – law: Robert Garten, David (Delia) Garten all of Texas, and Alan (Edie) Peyton; daughter: Karen Jenks of Roanoke Virginia; grandchildren: Stephanie Garten, Tiffaney Garten, David (Amanda) Garten Jr. of Texas, Christopher (Carolyn) Jenks, Ashley (Kevin) Poindexter, Brian (Amber) Jenks, Crystal (Daniel) McBroom, 17 great grandchildren, 2 brothers – in – law: Richard (Janice) Allen, Robert (Barbara) Allen, and a sister – in – law: Linda Allen.

A Celebration of Denny’s life will be 1:00 PM Saturday March 16, 2024 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road, Daleville Virginia 24083 with Pastor Wesley Belcher officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon – 1:00 PM prior to the service Saturday. Interment will take place immediately following the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, 5731 Airport Road NW Roanoke, Virginia 24012.
