Adam Edward “Ed” Weinbender, age 80 of Fincastle, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Our Lady of the Valley Retirement Community Sullivan Center.
Ed was born in Ovid, Colorado July 2, 1940 and was the son of the late F. Michael and Elizabeth Klug Weinbender. He lived in Fincastle for five years.
Ed served in The United States Air Force and attended Church of the Transfiguration. He was a retired district sales manager for Electrolux and was an avid outdoorsman. Ed enjoyed golf and all sports, and was a tournament jouster winning a championship. He appeared on the cover of Travel magazine with his jousting equipment. Ed enjoyed his many hands-on projects and was a positive person, always trying to make life fun.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by baby sisters, Marjorie Ann and Yvonne Marie; sisters Georgina Menter and Dorothy Bell; and his brothers, Robert and James. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Patsy Ramsey Weinbender; sons: Greg Weinbender of Reno, Nevada, Tony (Liz) Weinbender of Gainesville, Florida; stepchildren: Steven (Tracy) Amonette of Natural Bridge, Robin (Todd) Cawley of Vinton, granddaughter, Dylan Weinbender; step-grandchildren: Max Amonette, Katherine Neal, Samantha Neal, Finbar Neal, Bradley Leonard, Alex (Stephanie) Leonard; brothers and sisters: Don Weinbender of Ft. Lupton, Colorado, Tom (Adele) Weinbender of Seattle, Washington, Tim (Claudia) Weinbender of Dix, Nebraska, Larry Weinbender of Julesburg, Colorado, Mary Ann Hiler of Sterling, Colorado, Vickie (Bill) Helps of Genoa, Colorado; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 pm Monday December 21 at Church of the Transfiguration, 7624 Roanoke Road Fincastle with Rev. Fr. Stephen McNally officiating. A private burial with full military honors will be Tuesday at Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin. Those with concerns with COVID-19 and social distancing, the Mass will be livestreamed at www.rader-funeralhome.com/tributes/Adam-Weinbender. Ed's family will receive friends at Church of the Transfiguration one hour prior to the Mass on Monday.
