Betty Marie Michales

Betty Brogan Michales of Salem, passed peacefully at Springtree Health and Rehabilitation Center Monday, January 30, 2017 as the loving staff of Good Samaritan Hospice, and a dear friend stood by her side and comforted her until God came and relieved her of her suffering and blessed her with His “everything new.”

Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband George Michales of 66 years; parents Jabe and Mae Woody Brogan; her brother Lonnie Brogan, and sister Judy Smith. She is survived by her sister Edna Brogan Bolton and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty’s church family and Helpful Hands Home Health surrounded her with loving care and assistance as her health declined and made it possible for her to spend most of her last days in the comfort of her home.

She was a long-time faithful member of Peters Creek Church of the Brethren. Betty was also a graduate of the class of 1947 at Lewis Gale Hospital as a Registered Nurse where she continued to work for many years.

She will be remembered by her deep faith; determination to do all she could for others, especially the gifts of her beautiful handwork.

A celebration of a life well lived will be 11:00 am, Thursday, February 2 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road, Daleville with Pastor Stuart Kelly and Pete Bain officiating. Burial will be next to her husband at Trinity Cemetery. Betty’s family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 am.
