William Andrew Fahrbach

On Sunday evening April 29th, William Andrew Fahrbach, 82 of Troutville was “absent from the body” and present with our Lord Jesus Christ.

Bill was born September 26, 1935 in Quakertown, Pennsylvania to William and Anna Fahrbach. He grew up in Crewe, Virginia and attended the University of Richmond and upon graduating, he served in the US Army. In 1993, Bill retired from the Norfolk Southern Railway after 32 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Flo; daughter and son-in-law Julie and David Perry and their children, Will and Emery Clair; son and daughter-in-law Bill and Leigh Fahrbach and Leigh’s children, Zachary, Olivia, and Macs; his sisters Willa Powers of Tampa, Florida and Shirley Baker of Richmond.

“Big Bill” as he was affectionately called by his family and friends was a devout Christian. He enjoyed sitting on the porch at Shadowland, fishing on the beach at Emerald Isle, NC, and playing a good game of golf. His kindness brought people together, his humor made them laugh, and his wisdom was counsel to many. Bill’s absence will be profound.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be 11:00 AM Saturday, May 5 at Troutville Baptist Church, 5520 Lee Highway, Troutville. His family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road, Daleville Friday 2-4 & 6-8 pm.
