William Page Bowling, III age 75 of Fincastle, died Wednesday, October 31 at his home.
Bill was born in Raleigh, North Carolina and was the son of the late William P. Jr. and Elizabeth Houchens Bowling. He grew up in Charlottesville, but spent most of his life in the Roanoke Valley.
Bill was graduated from the University of Virginia School of Architecture in 1966. He practiced as an Architect for over 50 years and while with Hayes, Seay, Mattern & Mattern and in private practice, was the principal designer on many notable projects throughout Virginia as well as the United States. His true love and passion was hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his wife Donna Jensen Bowling; his children: Will of Fincastle, Kari (Mark) Van Curen of Charleston, South Carolina, Mike (Lorie) of Roanoke, and Dr. Kristen Bowling (Jay) Williams of Arlington; grandchildren: Colton and Livvie Bowling, Jacob and Kylie Williams; sisters: Susan B. Morris of Charlottesville and Jane B. Roberts of Crozet; and “very special” was “man’s best friend,” his English Bulldog, Sullivan.
There will be no service, but Bill’s family will receive friends 2-5pm Sunday, November 4 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road Daleville.
