Thomas H. Shelton, 69 of Botetourt, died Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at his home.
Tom was born in Salem June 21, 1948 and was the son of the late Frank H. and Evelyn Hamilton Shelton. He grew up in Lynchburg and lived in Botetourt for nearly 40 years. Tom was a chemical engineer with Dow Chemical and retired from Westvaco after 30 years of service in 2007. Tom was a 1966 graduate of EC Glass High School and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Virginia Tech University in 1970. He and his son David collected sports memorabilia and attended many sports card shows from 1990-2000. They owned Sportsline for several years.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his wife Karen Horine Shelton and daughter Mary Shelton. He is survived by his son David Thomas Shelton; and best friends, Jim Booth and Mike Easterly.
A service honoring Tom’s life will be 7:00 pm Friday, May 11 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road, Daleville. A private burial will be conducted at the convenience of the family at Daleville Cemetery. Tom’s family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, 5-7 pm.
