Thomas L. “Tommy” Crowder, 74, of Troutville, died Saturday, December 30, 2017 following a courageous battle with cancer.
Tommy was born in Roanoke November 8, 1943 and lived in Troutville all of his life. He was the son of the late John T. and Atlas Harshbarger Crowder.
Tommy was employed for at least forty years with Rowe Furniture. He enjoyed being outdoors camping, hunting, fishing, working in his gardens, or just being in the woods. When Tommy was younger, he was baptized at Cave Rock Baptist Church.
Tommy is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara Gray Crowder; son and daughter-in-law Don and Michelle Crowder of Troutville; daughter and son-in-law Debra and Tim Martin of Roanoke; grandchildren: Courtney, Ashley, and Madison; great-grandchildren: Alyssa and Avery; brothers Bobby Crowder of Eagle Rock and Johnny Crowder of Tennessee; sisters and brothers-in-law Mary Crowder, Alma and Terry Moran, and Linda Bandy all of Roanoke, Sandy and Randy Freeman of North Carolina, and Janet Horn of Buchanan.
A celebration of Tommy’s life will be 2:00pm, Saturday, January 6 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road, Daleville. His family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00pm.
