Susan Jane Brown Young

Susan Jane Brown Young, 77, of Buchanan, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Raleigh Court Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Susan was born August 19, 1940 and was the daughter of the late William R. and Grace Finley Brown. She attended Thiel College and was a member of Sigma Kappa sorority.

Susan was a lifelong avid horsewoman, accomplished trainer, teacher, judge, and equestrian. She was a member of multiple horseman’s associations.

In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her husband Homer Franklin Young in 1996. She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law Cary Young of Johnson City, Tennessee, Kevin Young of Jonesborough, Tennessee, Craig and Tiffany Young of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; daughter Kristie Young of Buchanan; grandchildren: Whitney Young, William Young, Brendon Young, Dylan Marko, Lauren Young, Grace Young, and Carson Young; brother and sister-in-law Edward R. and Susan Brown of Ormond Beach, Florida; daughter-in-law Tamera Young of Kingsport, Tennessee; and “adopted” daughter Becky Broughman of Buchanan.

A celebration of Susan’s life will be 11:00 am, Monday, April 16 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road, Daleville. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Buchanan. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, 2-5 pm.
