Sue B. Newcomb, age 87, passed away Friday September 16, 2022 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Sue was born August 2, 1935 in Elizabethtown North Carolina to the late Alston A. and Elana E. Suggs Bordeaux. She lived her early years in Elizabethtown and eventually went to Fayetteville where she attended Elon College. Sue met her husband, Richard at a Baptist church. They spent a couple of years in France and eventually moved to Roanoke, Virginia where they spent a year and a half before moving to Pearisburg, Virginia then Peterstown, West Virginia before settling back down in Roanoke.
Sue was a lady who loved the Lord and had a strong faith in Jesus that led her life’s path. She was a member of Hollins Road Baptist Church. She worshiped the Lord daily.
She was a secretary for a medical doctor in Fayetteville North Carolina and worked at Sears as an accountant and a homemaker. Sue was a loving mother and wife. She enjoyed being with her family especially her children and grandchildren, sewing, plants and flowers.
In addition to her parents, Sue is preceded in death by her son, Carl Channing Newcomb, 3 sisters and 8 brothers. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Richard Madison Newcomb; brothers, Robert C. Bordeaux, Demette Gordon Bordeaux: ;children: Susan Newcomb Conner, Richard Newcomb Jr., Gloria Newcomb Brown, Keith Newcomb, Chris Newcomb, and Beverly Moore; grandchildren: Theresa Tucker, Aaron Conner, Michael Conner, Alzado Brown, Kaily Martinod, Preston Newcomb, Austen Smith, Zoe Egesdal, and Sarah Moore; great-grandchildren: Charlotte Tucker, Randolph “Tre” Tucker, Brixley Brown, Ezra Martinod, and Elliott Smith.
Visitation to welcome friends and family will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday September 20 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road Daleville. Burial service will be at 1:00 pm at Godwin Cemetery, 152 S Church Street in Fincastle with Pastor Mark Washington officiating.
