Shirley “Patty” Bailey, 89 of Daleville, died Thursday, March 28, 2019 at The Glebe following a brief illness.
Patty was born in Salem, lived much of her life in Princeton, West Virginia and the last 20 years in Botetourt. Patty was the daughter of the late Horace L. and Bernice F. Reid Glenn. She lived the past eight years at The Glebe where she enjoyed playing bridge, and was very active in fashion shows and the social life of The Glebe. Her comedic personality will be missed.
In addition to her parents, Patty was preceded in death by her first husband, Ben B. Peck of Princeton, West Virginia, her second husband, Dr. Dewey J. Bailey, Sr. of Fincastle; and grandson, Jeffrey McCoy. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Tom Carbone of Keller, Texas; grandsons Robert (Kim) Stanger, Joseph (Leigh) Stanger; great-grandchildren: Chloe, Mason, Sabashtian, Lucy, and Joey; step-sons and daughters-in-law Dr. Richard and Kelly Bailey, Mike and Sally Bailey, and Bobby Bailey all of Fincastle, Steve and Andrea Bailey and Hal and Cindy Bailey all of Daleville, and Dr. Dewey J. Jr. and Susan Bailey of Roanoke; grandchildren: Kyle, Marshall, Anne, Paige, Tyler, Carrie, Lizzie, Julia, Hal, Jack, Emma, and Sophie; nieces and nephews Kathy Lester, Mark Hicks, Donna Akers, and Wayne Peck; and many friends at The Glebe.
A celebration of Patty’s life will be 2:00pm Saturday, March 30 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road Daleville with Ben Peyton officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 pm.
