Phil and I grew up together in Winooski. We met in kindergarten and our friendship blossomed as we grew. I remember visiting with he and his Grandmother at her house on East Allen St in Winooski. We shared an interest in collecting baseball cards as well as a keen knack for 'flipping cards'. We fished at the pond together quite often. I also remember him telling me about a book he read when we were in 8th or 9th grade called The Hobbit. It had a huge impact on him. Hence his name change to Gimli, a character of the book. He was a changed person after that. Not in a bad way. He took flack in school for his name change, something I and several other close friends defended. He was a gifted student. I could only hope to be the student he was. During our freshman reception he was required to wear a raw onion around his neck for one entire school day. He wore it proudly. We played football together as well. Once out of school he moved to the islands and I and other friends lost track of him. Our loss for sure. I am thrilled to have read how successful he had become in life although it shouldn't have been a surprise to those of us who knew him best in his younger years. Prayers to his family.

I remember Philip from Winooski High School. I remember him to be a wicked smart kid whom I always saw him as a person who would do well in life. It sounds like he did just that. As the old saying goes. "Another Library has burned". R.I.P my friend.
