Pearl W. Burrell, 93, of Fincastle, Va., entered eternal rest on Monday, April 9, 2018. She was born to the late Mariah Ward on October 29, 1924.
Pearl was educated in Botetourt County Schools and at an early age became a member of the First Baptist Church of Fincastle. For many years, she performed clerical duties for the Botetourt Improvement Association, and worked for Ms. Gray Bolton as an assistant tax preparer.
During her life she also worked as a housekeeper and babysitter for several families in the area. Pearl enjoyed attending Diner Club gatherings, serving as a member of the Willing Workers Club, and taking trips with her fellow senior citizens. She loved working puzzles and spent hours on fill-in crosswords and watching Wheel-of-Fortune.
Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Roy K. Burrell, Sr.; sister, Billie Ward; two sons, Johnny and Gregory Burrell; daughter, Elaine Arrington; and granddaughter, Lisa Burrell.
Left to cherish her memory are seven children, Rita Chaney, Roy (Norvella) Burrell, Jr., Emery Burrell, Kevin (Bertha) Burrell, Payton (Essie) Burrell, Karen Williams, and Janice Burrell; 16 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
A Homegoing Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Rd., Daleville, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at First Baptist Church of Fincastle.
