Paul Emory Crawford (KB4KKQ), age 78 of Troutville, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Paul was born June 6, 1941 in Cloverdale and lived in the Botetourt area all of his life. He was the son of the late Clarence E. and Rachel M. Hinchee Crawford.
Paul was an electrical draftsman and worked for Roanoke Iron and Bridge and various other electrical companies. He was a musician playing mostly stringed instruments and was especially fond of his fiddle. He entertained the community in many different ways and enjoyed hunting, fishing, biking, and HAM radio (KB4KKQ). Paul was an accomplished woodworker and craftsman.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Hiner Crawford, and son-in-law Kevin Spradlin. He is survived by his wife Margaret Hylton Crawford; daughters and son-in-law Pamela Spradlin of Bedford, and Lisa and Chris Thornton of Rocky Mount, Virginia; grandchildren: Justin Martin Eckert, Amber Marie Eckert, and Lauren Marie Thornton; step children: Sheryl Etzler and Dale Crawford of Roanoke, Jay and Carole Etzler of Troutville; step-grandson John Etzler; sister Betty Paxton of Boones Mill; niece, Terri Mason and nephew, Frank (Lisa) Paxton.
A celebration of Paul’s life will be 1:00 pm Saturday September 7 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road Daleville with Pastor Rob Marsh officiating. Burial will be at Daleville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
