Nancy “Nan” Detert, 90, of Daleville, died Friday, March 9, 2018 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
Nan was born in Burlington, Wisconsin August 7, 1927 and lived much of her life in the Detroit, Michigan area before moving to Botetourt County in 2006. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Leone Kalupy Lepine.
Nan retired as an executive secretary for Southfield Public Schools in Southfield, Michigan. She and her late husband Arden were very active in the Ferndale, Michigan Rotary Club and Rotary International. Nan enjoyed knitting and travel.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Arden Detert in 2008 and is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Kristine and David Olson of Moneta; granddaughter and her husband Erin and Michael King of Spokane, Washington; great-grandchildren Leianna and Xavier.
A celebration of Nan’s life will be 1:00 pm, Saturday March 17 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road, Daleville. A private burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service beginning at 12:00 noon Saturday.
