Marshall Ray Clark, Sr. age 72 of Daleville, passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Lewis Gale Medical Center following a brief illness.
Marshall was born August 9, 1948 in Rockbridge County, Virginia. He was the son of the late Marvin and Marjorie (Hartless) Berry. After serving in The United States Navy aboard the destroyer tender the USS Puget Sound, he worked in several professions, but mostly in asbestos removal for AccuTech Insulation and Contracting before moving to Daleville twenty years ago.
Marshall was an avid baseball fan, enjoyed NASCAR, travel, and cooking and socializing at Don Ho’s where he made many memories and many friends. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren cooking and grilling.
In addition to his parents, Marshall was preceded in death by his son, Marshall “Marty” Clark, Jr.; brother, Bill Clark; and sister, Alice Hamilton. He is survived by his wife Carol Lee Thurlow Clark; son, Mark (Dana) Clark of Americus, Georgia; daughter, Misti (Bobby) Persinger of Hopewell, Virginia; step-son, Yancy (Stephanie) Spiller of Daleville; grandchildren: Robbie, Brittany, Maygan, Abbie, Seth, Paige, Zachary, and Sadie; great-grandchildren: Shawn, John, and Justin; brother, Don Michael Clark of Roanoke; special niece, Nevaeh Hughes; adopted family: Dorothy Trivette; and many treasured friends.
A celebration of Marshall’s life will be 11:00 AM, Thursday June 3 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road Daleville with Associate Pastor Jonathan Windle officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Green Hill Cemetery in Buena Vista. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Wednesday 5-8 PM.
