Marie Mitchem Lynch

Marie Mitchem Lynch, age 85 of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Marie was born November 12, 1935 in Thorp, West Virginia and was the daughter of the late George M. and Alberna B. Moore Mitchem and lived in this area for fifty-three years. She was a graduate of Thorp High School in West Virginia and Roanoke Business College. Marie was employed as the church secretary for Grace United Methodist Church for many years, and was a member of Jesus Christ Church of Latter Day Saints.

Preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, James Walter Lynch, Marie is survived by her children: Mary (Richard) Silcox of Daleville, Martha Landgrebe of Roanoke, and Michael Lynch of Roanoke; grandchildren: Samantha Radford of Fincastle and James Smith of Roanoke; four great-grandchildren: Madison Radford, Jordan, Alex, and Jakob Smith; and her pets: Wubbys and Mr. Beasley; and special thanks to Sister in Christ, Geneva Jenkins; Louise Nova for her special care and kindness; her niece, Laurie Screen for her devotion and love; and Donna McGeorge of Helpful Hands Home Care.

A private service for close family honoring Marie’s life will be Friday, October 8 at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
