Lenore Evelyn Umberger, 97 of Daleville formerly of Germantown, Maryland died Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Berkshire Health and Rehab.
Lenore was born in Pulaski, Virginia May 21, 1921 and lived in Germantown most or her life. She was the daughter of the late Stanford Earle and Trophy Arlington Smith Sutphin.
Lenore worked for Weinschel Engineering manufacturing transistors and electrical components for the early space program. Lenore also worked for Thomas Hardware Store for many years. She was a member of Germantown Baptist Church and the adult Sunday school. Lenore enjoyed baking and cooking.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Paul Clifford Umberger, Sr.; daughters Lenora Sharon Umberger and Priscilla LaVon Umberger; three brothers James “Jimmie” Sutphin, Stacey Howard Sutphin, and Richard Leroy “Roy” Sutphin. Lenore is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law Paul Clifford and Julie Umberger, Jr. of Keedysville, Maryland, Larry Montgomery Umberger of Gladys, Virginia; daughter Brenda E. Umberger of Daleville; grandchildren Paul C. Umberger, III, Bryan D. Umberger, Stacey Nicole Umberger, Larry Michael Umberger, John Tregoning and Eustachia Clabaugh; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
A celebration of Lenore’s life will be 11:00 am Wednesday, August 22 at Daleville Baptist Church, 375 Orchard Drive, Daleville with Pastor Wesley Belcher officiating. Burial will be at Germantown Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 am.
