Kathy Dooley-Adkins

Kathy Dooley-Adkins, age 73 of Troutville, passed away Friday, September 1, 2023 at Lewis Gale Medical Center following a brief illness.

Kathy was born in Roanoke July 4, 1950 and was the daughter of the late Clarence Pershing and Juanita Drewry Dooley. She lived in Troutville since 2005. Kathy was employed for 25 years with the Virginia Cooperative Extension Office and retired in 2010. She enjoyed traveling, quilting, sewing, and received several awards for her cross-stitch projects. Kathy attended Colonial Heights Baptist Church and was choir director for several years at Grandview Heights Church of the Nazarene.

Kathy is survived by her husband of 14 years, Jay Adkins; son, Christopher Spickard of Troutville; step-daughter, Jennifer (Brett) Lanier of Pembroke, Georgia; brother, Eric Dooley of Leesburg, Virginia; sisters: Alisha Dooley of McClellansville, South Carolina, and Debra Sue Dooley of Louisville, Kentucky.

Services celebrating Kathy’s life will be 2:00 pm Thursday, September 7 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road Daleville with Pastor Melissa Scott officiating. A private burial will take place at Dooley Family Cemetery. Kathy’s family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service Thursday.
