J. Luther Burkholder

J. Luther Burkholder, age 80 of Daleville passed away Thursday March 17, 2022 at his home.

Luther was the son of the late John Walter and Ruby Estelle (Ashburn) Burkholder. He was born March 16, 1942 in Buchanan. Luther lived most of his life in Botetourt; except for a couple years that he lived in Eden, North Carolina.

Luther was a graduate of James River High School in Buchanan. After graduation he went on to take some classes and eventually became a licensed Realtor for many companies throughout his 40+ year - career. Outside of his career; Luther enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, and most of all spending time with his loving family and friends.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother: Fred Burkholder. Luther is survived by his devoted of 43 years wife Fran Kemp Burkholder; a son and daughter-in-law: John (Valery) Burkholder of North Port, Florida; a daughter and son-in-law: Jessica (Chad) Sawyer of Daleville, Virginia; 6 grandchildren: Alexander, Vanessa, Leonidas, Ava, Austin, and Aiden; a brother and sister-in-law: Phillip (Penny) Burkholder of Vinton, Virginia; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

The family will receive friends Saturday March 19, 2022 from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road, Daleville Virginia 24083.
