Ethel (Liz) Elizabeth Parker passed away peacefully on Sunday evening October 22nd at The Glebe in Daleville, Virginia. She was born Ethel Elizabeth Tipton on February 14, 1922, the daughter of Ed and Eva Tipton of Morganton, Georgia. She married Fred Walter Parker, also of Morganton, until they were separated by his death in 2000. Following the Second World War they moved to Roanoke. She moved to The Glebe retirement community in Daleville when it opened in 2005.
Ethel is survived by her son Dr. Stephen Douglas Parker of Baltimore, Maryland, daughter-in-law Virginia Larsen of Baltimore, Maryland and by grandchildren Jonathan Larsen Parker of New York City, Elizabeth Anne Parker of Los Angeles, California, and Nathan Alexander Parker of Los Angeles, California. She was a long time member of the Grandin Court Baptist Church and of the Order of the Eastern Star. A graveside service will be held in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 28th with the Rev. Carol Johnson officiating.
A celebration of her life will also be held at the Glebe on Saturday, December 16th at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Glebe, 200 The Glebe Blvd, Daleville, VA. 24083.
