Doris Kanary Macauley

Doris Kanary Macauley, age 93 of Daleville, passed away at the home of her daughter and son-in-law Friday, January 14, 2022.

Doris was born in Richmond, Virginia July 17, 1928 and was the daughter of the late Charles and Bessie Beasley Kanary. She has lived in Daleville for the past 18 years.
Doris was a hard-working mother who raised seven children. She was artistic, loved dancing, but her family was always first and foremost to her.

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her son William Macauley, and her six siblings: Frank, Charles, Raymond, Virginia, Randolph, and Roland. She is survived by her sons: Shawn Macauley of Richmond and Bruce Macauley of Mississippi; daughters: Pam Hagan of New Hampshire, Cindy (Brian) Hagan of Massachusetts, Rhonda (Frank) McGraw of Mechanicsville, Virginia, and Linda (Horace) Firmin of Daleville; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Doris’s family extends a very special thank you to Good Samaritan Hospice for the excellent care Doris received.

A celebration of Doris’s life will be 2:00 PM Friday, January 21 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road Daleville. Burial will be at Daleville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
