Donald Crosby Johnson, age 87 of Daleville, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Donald was born March 11, 1933 in Brooklyn, New York and was the son of the late Howard and Alwina Kirtcher Johnson. He has lived in Virginia since 1972.
Donald was an Executive for the Boy Scouts for 15 years before moving to Smith Mountain Lake and founding the Pine Shores Campground. He closed the campground in 1986. Donald enjoyed gardening, the Boy Scouts, the outdoors, was a fish keeper, photographer and above all built their home at Smith Mountain Lake. Donald designed the flower garden and gazebo area at The Glebe.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Doris and Carol and is survived by his wife of thirty-eight years, Peggy Frith Johnson.
A memorial service honoring Donald’s life will be held at a later date.
