Donald Dittmann, age 69 formerly of Botetourt, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2020 at Sunflower Gardens in Hopwell.
Donald was born January 25, 1951 in Tonawanda, New York and was the son of the late John D. and Betty J. Stenzel Dittmann. He lived in Botetourt for 32 years before moving to Hopewell in 2019.
Donald was an accountant for the Internal Revenue Service retiring in 2009 after 37 years of service. He attended Villa Heights Baptist Church, and was a movie buff who enjoyed camping, feeding and watching birds, and was always interested in his daughters’ activities.
Donald is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jean Mallory Dittmann; daughters and son-in-law: Diana and David Hudson of Henrico, Virginia, and Katie Dittmann of Iron Mountain, Michigan; grandson, Christopher Hudson; sisters and brothers-in-law: Marilyn and Ronald Curtis of Tonawanda, New York, and Janice and Daniel Cooper of Stevensville, Michigan; and several nieces and a nephew.
A celebration of Donald’s life will be 2:00 pm Saturday, September 5 at Villa Heights Baptist Church, 4080 Challenger Avenue, NE, Roanoke with Pastor Jake Huffman officiating. A private entombment will be at Old Dominion Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum. The family will receive friends 6-8pm Friday at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road Daleville.
