David Rayburn Martin, age 69, passed away Thursday November 2, 2023 at Carrington Place in Daleville.
David was born July 20, 1954 in Martinsville, Virginia to the late Veronica Ferguson and Nick Martin. He grew up in Bassett, Virginia and lived most of his life there. David was a student at Virginia Tech for a period before going into the Navy to serve his country. Most recently - David worked in Greensboro, North Carolina with a company that’s now known as Schneider Electric as a Pricing manager for many years.
David also worked as a Radio DJ in Martinsville (WMVA) for a few years. His passion was music; in particular rock and classic rock. David also enjoyed attending concerts at The Harvester, reading, spending time with his family, and spending time outdoors. David’s family describes him as “The coolest Martin” and was known a “favorite uncle” to many.
In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by two sisters: Diana Bailey and Barbara Tatum. David is survived by his daughter and life partner: Jessica D. “Jess” (Rebecca Tang) Martin of North Garden, Virginia; brothers and sisters: Kermit Martin, Jeannette Crum, Sharon Hall, Brenda Gibson, Gary Martin, Barry Martin, and Theresa “Tootsie” Shepherd; and many loving nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of David’s life will occur at the family’s convenience.
