Darrell Eugene Mattox, age 66 of Troutville, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at his home following a long illness.
Darrell was born in Fort Worth, Texas January 21, 1954 and lived in the Botetourt area for more than 30 years. He was the son of the late Wallace E. Mattox and Louise V. Cornelius Adra.
Darrell was a handyman and enjoyed working with tools, repairing lawn mowers, working in his vegetable garden, and fishing when he was younger. He won a prize for growing the biggest tomatoes in Salem. Darrell was a member of Woodland Baptist Church and attended Faith Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Virginia M. Price Mattox, his sister Terese Mattox, and his step-mother Luci Maimbourg. Darrell is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Walley and Lisa Mattox of Fincastle; daughters and sons-in-law: Shelly and Kelcey Branch of Vinton, and Violet and David Moses of Bedford; grandchildren: Chylynn, Triston, Moses, Victoria, Emma, Gracie, and Guy; sisters: Star Mattox of Oklahoma and Suhni Mattox of California.
A celebration of Darrell’s life will be 3:00 pm Saturday, May 9 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road Daleville with Reverend John Reynolds officiating.
