Curtis Ray “Curt” Arney, age 63 of Fincastle, Va went home to be with his Lord Tuesday, March 21, 2023. Curt was born in Norton, Virginia May 25, 1959 and was the son of the late Jewel C. and Mary Lou Bryant Arney. He lived in Botetourt for more than fifty years. Curt was a sales representative in Industrial Sales for forty-three years. He was a member of Fincastle Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed golfing, skiing, playing cards, and spending time with his family.
Curt was many things in his life. He was a competitive wrestler, a “hole-in-one” golfer, a father and a husband, a brother and a son, but he was most proud to be called “Pops” by his 3 grandchildren. He never missed a chance to support them, even in the later stages of his illness. They were his greatest joy. In addition to his parents, Curt was preceded in death by his nephew, Jared Arney. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Kimberly “Kim” Allen Arney; daughter, Britney (Anthony) Capito; sons: Drew (Katherine) Arney, and Luke Arney all of Roanoke; grandchildren: Caiden Captio, John Arney, and Sadie Arney; brothers: Allen (Lisa) Arney, Bill (Teresa) Arney; sister, Teresa (Jay) Simmons; multiple nieces and nephews; and many lifelong friends.
A celebration of Curt’s life will be 12:00 Noon Saturday, March 25 at Fincastle Baptist Church, 7330 Roanoke Road Fincastle with Pastor Kevin Cummings officiating. A private burial at Old Dominion Memorial Gardens will be at a later date. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00-Noon prior to the service Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to International Christian Centers for the Deaf (ICCD), 8345 Cloverdale Road, Troutville, VA 24175.
