Mr Cary Luke Breckinridge

Cary Luke Breckinridge, of Salem Virginia, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2017. Cary was the son of the late William Cary Breckinridge and Charlotte Mason Luke Breckinridge. Cary was born July 30, 1946 in Roanoke, Virginia. He graduated from Greenbrier Military and the University of Virginia. He served in the United States Navy from 1966 to 1970 as a signalman SM2E5, aboard the guided missile destroyer, the USS Conyngham. Cary worked for Travelers Insurance Company as a claims adjuster and a claims manager for St. Paul companies.
Cary was a member of the Military Order of Stars and Bars. He was preceded in death by his brother William Cary Breckinridge, Jr. Surviving are his wife, Jennifer Bruce Breckinridge of Salem, Virginia and his sister Charlotte Hunter Breckinridge Woodyard and husband Richard Duane Woodyard. Nephews are Breckinridge Luke Woodyard (Sarah) and Richard Cary Woodyard, all of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Also surviving are his nieces, Brandi Taylor Cantwell (Daniel) of Kingsport, Tennessee, Candice Bruce Royall (Brandon) and great nieces Olivia Royall and Alexandra Royall, all of Richmond, Virginia. Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 4:00 PM at Godwin Cemetery in Fincastle. The family will receive friends at 408 N. Market Street, Salem, Virginia after the service. Rader Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salem Rescue Squad or Godwin Cemetery. A special thank you, to Blue Ridge Cancer Care.
