Carolyn Correll Sanford

Carolyn Correll Sanford, age 80 of Daleville, passed away Friday, July 16, 2021 at her home following a long illness.

Carolyn was born in Roanoke; grew up in Christiansburg, and lived more recently in Daleville.  She was the daughter of the late Albert Breckinridge and Treva Ellan Pharis Correll. 

Carolyn was a graduate of Mary Baldwin College and held her Real Estate license.  She enjoyed cooking, the beach, painting, gardening vegetables and flowers, and crocheting.  Carolyn was an avid UVA fan and traveled extensively with her husband to South America, Ecuador, and Guatemala. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Albert B. Correll, Jr.  Carolyn is survived by her husband Arthur “Art” Sanford; sons: John Donlon of Delaware, and David (Donna) Donlon of Virginia; daughter, Susan (Devin) Herod of Virginia; step-children: Tally Sanford of Virginia, Matthew (Jennifer) Sanford of Mississippi; grandchildren: Alex and Sam Donlon, Kyra Donlon, Ryan Donlon, Lauren, and Brianna Donlon; and step-grandchildren: Ray Sanford and Paige Sanford. 

Graveside services will be Friday, July 23 at Sunset Cemetery, 501 South Franklin Street Christiansburg with Ben Peyton officiating.  Friends may gather at the cemetery to visit beginning at 2:00 pm.
