Tribute

Deacon Carl Elton Menefee, age 57 of Rocky Mount, was called home to be with the Lord surrounded by his loving family Monday, May 17, 2021.
Carl and Joann met January 1999 and it was love at first sight. They were married in February 2001. Carl was a phenomenal husband, and was the best friend everyone could talk to. He was an extraordinary father to our three daughters: Clarissa, Teace, and Shenice, teaching and leading by example. His grandson JeMarre' was often glued to Carl's hip. Granddaughter LaRya', when she was in her Papa's presence, never wanted to leave him.
Carl took great joy in family vacations. Carnival Cruises were one of his favorite vacations. He especially liked to people watch. He made sure his children experienced a Carnival Cruise. In fact, Carl had just returned from vacationing with his family, when he left and went to his heavenly home.
Deacon Carl was a family man. He was always wanting family dinner time. It was not unusual to see Carl on a grill cooking for the masses or cooking just for the love of his life... Joann. Carl enjoyed watching others eat his fried fish with his special batter!! Grilled chicken, rib eye steak, hot dogs with the trimmings name just a few of his specialities. He was always delighted to make sure you were full and happy when you left his grill, and could cook a full course meal in 15 minutes. We will forever cherish those good home cooked meals. Whenever the church had cook outs Carl was always there ready to grill and serve. His grills had to have chrome rims and had to be clean.
Carl loved the outdoors. He was a fourth generation logger in his family and very proud to be the first owner and operator of his own business, Menefee’s Logging.
Carl graduated from Franklin County High School and enjoyed laughing and talking. He would often say that people just like walking up to him and telling him their whole life history.
Carl was a faithful member of Jesus is Lord Assembly of Love Church since Sept 04, 2005 where he served faithfully in the Security Ministry and Men of Integrity Ministry. Prior membership was at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church.
The life and legacy that Deacon Carl Menefee has left for his family, friends, and church family will forever remain in our heart's. Thank you Carl for exemplifying what True Love is. We shall meet again.
