Carl J. Ludwick

Carl J. Ludwick, age 78 of Botetourt County, passed away suddenly Tuesday, January 3, 2023.

Carl was born in Waynesboro, Virginia December 17, 1944 and lived in the area since 1978. He was the son of the late Thomas and Ethel Kennedy Ludwick. Carl was a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute as an electrical engineer. He was employed for more than 30 years with General Electric, retiring in 1999. Carl worked another five years for Virginia Transformer before his final retirement. He enjoyed playing guitar, golf, shooting, boating, Hokie football, and could fix most anything.

In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his brothers: Buddy Ludwick and Thomas Ludwick Jr.; sisters: Bettie Thompson and Barbara Garrison. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ellen Collins Ludwick; sons: Greg (Sara) Ludwick of Roanoke, and David (Mindi) Ludwick of Goodview; a daughter, Susan Ormsbee of Roanoke; his grandson, Alex; and numerous nieces and nephews.
