Betty J. Becker, age 92, of Daleville passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at her residence, The Glebe. Prior to moving to the Glebe, Betty was a long-time resident of Warren, Ohio.

Mrs. Becker was born August 11, 1926 in Lynchburg, Ohio the daughter of the late Lewis and Stella Frey Jandes. In November 1948, she married Henry Paul Becker of Youngstown, Ohio. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Henry P. “Hank” Becker; two sisters, Madelon Hanson and Margaret Campbell.

Mrs. Becker graduated from Ohio University with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church, Warren, Ohio and a member of P.E.O sorority. She volunteered many hours to her church and Trumbull Memorial Hospital as a “Pink Lady”. She especially enjoyed traveling, golf and her bridge clubs. Betty loved her family and enjoyed spending time and visiting with them. She was an extremely strong and independent person, surviving for over 20 years on her own, following the death of her husband, Henry.

She is survived by two daughters Elizabeth B. Walker, of Dallas, TX; and Jane B. Tucker and son-in-law Allan Tucker of Covington, VA; a grandson Jeffrey A. Tucker and wife Kristie, of Roanoke, VA; a great grandson Tanner Tucker and several nieces and nephews.

In keeping with her wishes her body has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at the Glebe in Daleville, VA February 16, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be held in Warren, Ohio later.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to a local Hospice or charity of your choice.
