Barry William Martin, age 81 of Daleville, formerly of Smith Mountain Lake, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2022 at The Glebe following a long illness.

Barry was born in Hartford, Connecticut November 16, 1941 and was the son of the late William Martin and Eleanor Gough Martin Wilbur. He attended St. Thomas Preparatory Seminary in Bloomfield, Connecticut; held a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education and a Master of Science Degree in Educational Guidance from Central Connecticut State University; and taught for 30 years in the New Britain Consolidated Educational System. Prior to his teaching career, he managed several Friendly Restaurant Stores in Connecticut. Barry retired to Cape Cod, Massachusetts and later to Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Marie Bokun Martin. Barry is survived by his brother, William Martin; sister-in-law, Ruth Bokun; and friend, Joy McNabb.

A memorial mass will be 11:00 am Wednesday, November 30 at Church of the Transfiguration, 7624 Roanoke Road, Fincastle with Rev. Fr. Stephen McNally officiating. A private burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Moneta.
