Robert Lee Bob Dickerson

Robert Lee “Bob” Dickerson, of Troutville, left us suddenly April 24, 2017 while listening to his favorite Scottish music.

Bob was born December 24, 1943 in Hiwassee, Virginia and was the son of the late W.W. and Virginia Cole Dickerson.

Bob graduated from Virginia Tech where he attended on a baseball scholarship and served in The United States Navy. He continued to follow his Hokies and loved being outdoors; whether playing golf or tending to his garden and orchard. His other love was travel to Scotland, and was fortunate to do that often.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother John. He is survived by his wife Vera; brothers Ralph Daniel Dickerson and Stephen Michael Dickerson; as well as nephews and a niece.

A memorial service honoring Bob’s life will be 1:00pm Monday, May 1 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road, Daleville with Reverend Gerald Carter officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service Monday, beginning at 12:00 noon.
