Matthew Muncey

Matthew Muncey, 69, of Fincastle went home to be with the Lord, Monday, February 06, 2017 at his home following a long illness.

Matthew was born in Buchanan County, Virginia May 14, 1947 and lived in Fincastle since 1962. He was the son of the late Frank J. and Marybell Underwood Muncey.

Matthew was a truck drive and retired from Lanford Brothers Company. He enjoyed farming and hunting.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Steven Allen Muncey. Matthew is survived by his loving companion of 20 years, Peggy Landram; sons Greg Muncey and Marvin Muncey of Fincastle; fifteen grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Tommy Muncey of New Castle, Olbern Muncey and Dallas Muncey both of Fincastle; sister Alice Roberts of Daleville; and dear friend, Becky Switzer.

The family will receive friends at Botetourt Church of God of Prophecy, 1 Academy Street, Fincastle where Matthew’s body will lie in state from 2-8pm Wednesday, February 8. Additional services will be in Buchanan County where burial will take place at Mullins Family Cemetery, Compton Mountain.
