Lewis G. "Curly" Rutrough

Lewis G. “Curly” Rutrough, 87, of Roanoke, died Monday, March 20, 2017.

Lewis was born in Floyd County March 18, 1930 and lived in the Roanoke Valley most of his life. He was the son of the late Albert and Bertha Whiteneck Rutrough.

Lewis was a sheet-metal worker, owning his own business for many years. He served in the US Navy, was a member of the Roanoke Moose Lodge, and enjoyed fishing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Helen Dunn Rutrough. Lewis is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law Susan Crawford of Salem, Sherry and Butch Kitts of Boones Mill, Diane Stewart and John Randall of Marietta, Georgia, and Tonia Borchart of Charlottesville; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sisters Aldene Reed of Bent Mountain and Margie Evans of Richmond.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, March 23 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road, Daleville with Pastor Dan Netting officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 Thursday.
