Ernesto Elias "Ernie"Trejo

Ernesto Elias “Ernie” Trejo, 80, of Thaxton died Monday, February 12, 2018 following a long illness.

Ernie was born in Mirando City, Texas March 4, 1937 and was the son of the late Marcos and Rosa Nunez Trejo. He lived in New York City for 40 years before retiring to Thaxton 17 years ago.

Ernie was a building superintendent for an upper west side apartment building on Central Park West in Manhattan, served in the United States Air Force, and enjoyed travelling.

In addition to his parents, Ernie was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Helen L. Saunders-Trejo; sons William Jarman of Richmond and James Jarman of Thaxton; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; brothers and sister-in-law Joe and Lily Trejo of Corpus Christi, Texas and Rene’ Trejo of Houston, Texas; sisters Letia Trejo of New Orleans, Louisiana, Edna Ziesmer of Corpus Christi, Texas, Dora Trejo of Louisiana.

A celebration of Ernie’s life will be 2:00pm, Wednesday February 21 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road, Daleville with Pastor Ben Sturgis officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm.
