Carolyn was such a dear friend of my father's, Alan B. Ordway, and the served Gould Academy for many years together as Trustees. She was always kind and generous to me when she saw me around campus when I was a student, and this kindness continued as I grew older and crossed paths with Carolyn at various Gould events. She had such poise and grace - a true beauty. I am heartened to know she had a long, loving life. My sympathies to her family.

When my dad asked us to get in touch with and welcome to VA a friend of his lady friend, we found a treasure. Carolyn enriched our lives with her upbeat attitude and extensive knowledge. We loved hearing her stories of her family and the places she had lived, and appreciated her listening to ours. Our visits together were always interesting and we always learned something new. A bright light has gone out of the world.

I was sorry to read of Carolyn's death. She and I were fellow altos in the church choir at First Congregational Church in South Portland, Maine. Her consistent cheerfulness, ability to take on any adversity and to adjust to any change, her wonderful sense of humor were an inspiration to all who knew her. She was a class act and was & will continue to be missed.

When my husband and I arrived at Gould Academy in 1976, Carolyn welcomed us with a huge smile. Her interest in education was genuine. She never was afraid to ask questions and to bring up different issues she was concerned about.Trustee Carolyn was very emphatic about the women students' well being and gender equality. We will always remember her positive can-do attitude. She was an intelligent, curious, lovely woman!

Dear Folks,It was a honor to meet and get to know Carolyn! I spent time with her in assisted-living at the Glebe in 2014. We shared a table at meals as well as enjoying walks, sitting on the porch and in many activities. Carolyn was always up beat, grateful for the food and never complained when the food really was not good. She was courageous about her eye sight and lived with a very positive mind set. She was extremely proud of her family and loved sharing stories about each of you! No family member was left out as she clearly enjoyed each of you as well as she loved each of you!!

I adored "Mrs. Cassell". I still smile when I think of her. She was a special mom to several of us through our high school years. She touched us then, and it's clear she continued to touch people though out her life. My thoughts are with Donna, Staff, Jack and their families. -- Jane V

When I worked at The Glebe Retirement Community in Daleville ,your were always an inspiration to me. Beautiful inside and out .i remember one day you and Peggy and I singing at Kathys receptionist desk this song that you said you and your brother sang as children. I will always remember you and all the special moments we had!
"From this valley they say you are going.
We will miss your bright eyes and sweet smile,
For they say you are taking the sunshine
That has brightened our pathway a while.
So come sit by my side if you love me.
Do not hasten to bid me adieu.
Just remember the Red River Valley,
And the cowboy that has loved you so true."
Loved by so many because she loved so many!
