Joseph Samuel Roberson

Joseph Samuel Roberson, Jr., 65, of Cloverdale, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Raleigh Court Health and Rehabilitation following a long illness.

Joseph was born December 1, 1948 in Donaldsonville, Georgia and was the son of the late Joseph S. Roberson, Sr. and Anna Doris Ash Roberson McClain.  Joseph served in the US Army stationed in Alaska and moved to New York, New York following the service.  He retired as a child support enforcement office for the City of New York.  In retirement, he moved to Cloverdale in 2004.  He enjoyed reading and electronics; he liked making things work.

In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his wife Janice Gwendolyn Dean Roberson; he is survived by his sons Joseph Roberson, III of Queens, New York, and William Joseph Roberson of Cloverdale; his daughter Keba R. Roberson of Queens, New York; and one grandson Joshua Isaiah Pitts; his sister Janice Roberson of Hempstead, New York; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Joseph’s homegoing service will be Wednesday, 1:00 PM at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road, Daleville with Pastor Harvey L. Saunders and Elder Marie Wilkie officiating.  Burial will be at Old Dominion Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service.
